In late 2014, he hacked the webcam of his live-in girlfriend and secretly recorded her sleeping naked. The recordings were later published to an online forum, including her frenzied attempts to delete them.
When her family found out about the affair, she was cut off from her family. Siddiqui had to quit his job to avoid being discovered. But instead of going to jail, Siddiqui worked with his sister and her husband to set up a kidnapping and ransom scheme. As the hackers worked on the plan, police arrested them and shut down their website.
Siddiqui’s friend Srinivas Kodagat, 33, was also arrested, and is serving time for hacking into the websites of American and Canadian companies.
“Yes, I am a loser,” Siddiqui told VICE News. “I am a loser for getting involved with a married woman who is out of my league. I am a loser because I have to feel like a criminal and a fraud for what I did.”
Siddiqui, however, is not alone in his plight. Many men turn to hacking to try to keep their sex lives going. These are a few of their stories.
